Time for some catch up and confessions after a blogging break this month. Here's what I've been...
Not doing: I did not do well on my resolution of stretching and being still with God this month. I barely did it. I could kick myself because I have truly needed His peace lately.
Since mid-summer I've just felt...weary. There has been a lot of bad news recently (national and at home, serious and not so serious), and I feel like it keeps piling up on top of me. I worry about what will happen, and I wish I could take the pain away that others are feeling. So I've really felt weighed down lately - you know what I mean? Ugh. So finally this past week, I've been...
Working on: shaking myself free of it through prayer and the sacraments. My husband and I went on a date to Mass and Confession this weekend, and that really helped me to get a fresh start. "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
There are so many things that I have to remind myself of consistently, and this is yet another one! Do not be afraid. God is in control. What helps you get through times when you feel anxious or burdened?
But even in the midst of my anxiety, we've still been having fun too. We've been:
Excited about: Notre Dame football this season, and I'm...
Looking forward to: going to another game in October. Let's keep up the good work, boys!
|Sorry I cut of your head, #81!|
And besides anything Notre Dame football related, we've also been:
Collecting and eating: apples, apples, and more apples! My parents' apple tree has produced a ton of fruit this year, so we've been making lots of applesauce, apple pancakes, apple crisp, you get the idea. I think I need one of those fancy apple peelers now!
Up to: home school preschool. We're doing a letter a week and mixing in colors, shapes, fine and gross motor skills, etc. into the lessons too. J absolutely loves it. And actually, B does too. I figured he would just play around us, but he actually wants to be in on the action too. We've only been at it for 3 weeks, and I am so amazed at how much their little minds can soak up in such a short period of time!
So since I'm a newbie at home school preschool, do you have any advice for me? Any fave blogs or Pinterest accounts I need to check out? I love getting tips from all of you experienced moms and teachers - thank you so much!
Well, thanks for being patient with us this month as we've barely posted and missed a Tuesday Talk this month. Katie was busy with moving, and I just needed a break to refocus. We should be back more consistently soon!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you link up this week!
