What we've currently been up to this past week was welcoming Baby L into our family!
It was such a quick adoption, so it's been a wild and crazy week! Even with this awesome chaos, we've been having fun:
Wearing: The biggest smile! I still cannot believe we now have 3 - THREE! - beautiful children! We feel so very blessed!

First walk around the lake with the 3 kids! L is hiding in the sling :) |
Wish-listing: Since I saw this babywearing post on Iulia's Best of Baby blog, I put a new baby carrier on my must-have list for our new baby. And then last Tuesday, after a whirlwind day, we adopted our son! So now it is on the must-have-right-now list!
With every adoption, I've learned how important it is for me (and my husband) to hold our baby as much as possible. It helps so much with bonding since I didn't physically carry the child within me. And with two little ones running around, my hands aren't as free this time - I'm going to need a good baby carrier/sling!
But what to get? What are your recommendations for babywearing (especially for someone who has a small build and shoulder/neck problems)? I've never really done it before! Thanks for your help!
Exploring: Our yard and neighborhood. Now that it is finally getting a little warmer, it's been fun getting outside. I love seeing the little green shoots coming up everywhere in the landscaping. Several are getting close to blooming!
And our neighborhood has a beautiful lake that is a natural preserve. And the best part is that it has a sidewalk all the way around it so we can easily take walks and enjoy all of the wildlife!

Our first neighborhood lake walk of the year in early March! |
Sipping: Hot chocolate. I've been adding a little mint to it, and that sure has been helping me getting over the last of this illness!
Writing: Letters to our kids' birthparents. I've been writing little updates on how we're all doing to J, B, and L's birthparents. They are tremendous blessings to us, and I'm glad we get to share with them!

Our birthmothers (and fathers) have entrusted us with such precious gifts - we are so grateful for their choice of love! |
What a lovely week it's been! We're still on cloud 9. :) How about you? I'd love for you to say hello and tell me what you've been up to lately!
Because of the craziness of being sick for the past 2 weeks and then having such a quick adoption, we are taking a break with Start Fresh this month. We'll start back up again on May 1st!
It makes me so happy to see your 3 little ones- so wonderful! I love my ergo! Have heard the Tula is good too
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the adoption! Babywearing is great! I used a Moby wrap when my daughter was younger, and then switched to an ergo later. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your third beautiful baby!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! Congrats...looks like the kids simply love their new brother:)
ReplyDeleteJust precious! So happy for your family
ReplyDeleteExciting! What a great season for you!
ReplyDeleteOh that last picture is just SO SWEET!!! :) So happy still for you guys!
ReplyDeleteAh, congratulations! So sweet and so wonderful for your family. And I want to do better with the babywearing next time around - you'll have to share some tips if you get a new one!
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same thing as Danielle. The Moby and then the Ergo. I suffer neck and shoulder issues and I haven't had any issues when using these carriers.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your adoption! Your children look very excited about their new little brother!
He is so sweet! Happy for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet time at your house. I love all the smiles and sunshine in your pictures. You neighborhood sounds dreamy. We got an Ergo used on ebay and have loved it. They make an infant insert if your little man is too tiny for it at first. Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI’m just so happy for you with all your sweet blessings! I still can’t believe you have that sweet baby boy! I love that you write letters to all of your kids’ birthparents!
ReplyDeleteWow, congratulations! It's so incredibly touching to me how you keep in touch with the birth parents. That is really beautiful. Those little babies are so blessed to have you as their mama!
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing Ergo...I think that will be at the top of my research list! Thanks! -Jess
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I keep hearing those two names so they'll be at the top of my research list! -Jess
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know that they don't cause shoulder and neck issues. That's my biggest concern!
ReplyDeleteThey are tickled to have a little brother! It is the sweetest thing to see :) -Jess
Thank you so much! We feel so blessed! -Jess

ReplyDeleteWe're still a little in shock too! What an amazing whirlwind!!! -Jess
ReplyDeleteThank you! J is such a little mommy - she is like this all the time with L. I think this has been my favorite part so far - watching the older two love on him. It is just the sweetest! -Jess
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anne! We are so thrilled to be a family of 5 now!
ReplyDeleteI have one new one to try, and a few more to research. I've gotten a lot of good feedback so I'm feeling pretty confident! -Jess
Thank you so much, Katie! We feel so blessed! -Jess
ReplyDeleteI definitely have to check out an Ergo - everyone is recommending it!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad it is finally warm out, and we can go outside now! We love our neighborhood - it's hard to beat! -Jess
Thank you! I still can't believe it either! Ha! ;) I'm so glad we have the agency we do that can help us get letters and pictures to them. I think about our kids' birthparents all the time and wonder how they're doing. They gave us such a tremendous gift, and we love them so much and pray for them everyday. Adoption obviously is sad (because of the why the b-parents decided to place) but it is such a blessing too. -Jess
ReplyDeleteAnd we feel so blessed that their birthparents chose us! Of all the families and couples at our agency they chose us. It's amazing to see how God brings us together. I think about and pray for our b-parents everyday. They gave us the most precious and loving gift possible! -Jess
ReplyDeleteP.S. Congrats on your styled shoots and floral arranging! Beautiful job!!!
Awwwwwww. How sweet. He is so sweet. Congratulations to you & your family. What an amazing week! I am smiling ear to ear thinking about how happy I am for you.
