Kitchen Dance Party Mix

I got really excited when I saw the theme for this week's Show and Tell Tuesday was the Soundtrack of Your Life!

I thought I'd put my own spin on it and make a kitchen dance party playlist.  Because my life right now IS mostly spent in the kitchen...so why not make it fun for everyone?!

There are so many reasons I love to play fun music in the kitchen.  It occupies the kids while I'm preparing meals.  And it's true that when you "whistle while you work" it goes faster and is much more fun!  (Even if Annie's It's a Hard-Knock Life comes on while you're washing the dishes!)

We like Spotify because it's free (so there are occasionally commercials), and we can play it on all of our electronic devices (so we can have dance parties in the living room too ;).  I love that you can share playlists too!  So here is our master playlist for our perfect family kitchen dance party:

This is truly a dance mix for kids.  And personally, it's fun for me as an adult too!  It's mostly Disney music and songs from musicals so it brings me back to my childhood.  I love seeing my kids enjoy the same music I did as a kid!

Sooooo....our Family Kitchen Dance Party Mix (above) includes:

All of the best Disney songs,

Fun musicals (The Sound of Music, Wicked, Mary Poppins, Annie, The Wizard of Oz),

Non-Disney animated movies (American Tail, Anastasia, Shrek), and

Wedding reception favorites (Cha Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, Happy).

But my all time 10 favorites (with a few ties!) would have to be:

Jungle Book: Bare Necessities & I Wanna Be Like You

The Sound of Music: Do Re Mi

Beauty and the Beast: Be Our Guest & Belle

Annie: It's a Hard-Knock Life

Sleeping Beauty: Once Upon a Dream

Anastasia: Once Upon a December & Journey to the Past

The Little Mermaid: Under the Sea

Wicked: Defying Gravity

Cinderella: Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo

The Wizard of Oz: If I Only Had a Brain & If I Only Had a Heart & If I Were King of the Forest

So we love quite the variety!  Sometimes we waltz while we work, sometimes we're belting out a show tune, and others times we're jumping up and down and twirling around in circles - we love it all!

Do you have kitchen dance parties at your house?  What are your favorite kid-friendly songs to sing and dance to?  What would you add to our list?

Here's to many more fun kitchen dance parties with your family!

P.S.  My only complaint is that Spotify does NOT have music from the animated Charlotte's Web.  Chin Up is one of our all time faves so we just have to listen to that song on YouTube when we want to hear it!

I'm linking up with these awesome parties!
