Monthly Resolution: Time to Purge!

I am in the mood for a good purge of stuff. Sometimes when I'm cleaning up a room or putting away laundry, I just feel overwhelmed with all of these things we have accumulated. I know we are quite lucky to have been given most of it, but we don't need it all. Realistically, how many outfits or toys or gadgets do we really need?

This month, I'm going to try to get rid of at least one thing a day. I already started in our closet and found well over ten items we never use or wear. I put a donation box up in our loft (I pass by here often so I'll see it every day) and I'm just going to drop things in it every day.

One of the other things I'm doing is packing up some toys. I'm separating everything into storage bins and I'm going to start rotating them. I know it will help with the clutter, but I'm also hoping it will make playtime more exciting - kind of like Christmas opening something new every few days! ;)

Speaking of Christmas, I can't believe it's right around the corner...and this year we are going to do it a lot differently. Instead of replacing all of the things I'm getting rid of now, we are doing the Four Things idea - 1 thing you need, 1 thing to wear, 1 thing to read, and 1 thing you want. I'm really looking forward to it! :)

What are your goals for this month?

  3. I so need to do the packing of the toys--I think that it will definitely make playtime for fun for our little guy if we rotate the toys around :)

  4. I'm following along on Bowl Full of Lemons 31 Day Series Purge. The thought of purging my whole house seemed overwhelming, but following along a 31 day plan made it more manageable.

  5. I follow y'all on instagram and realize I need to hop over to the blog more often! I love the IG though :-) and I LOVE purging, seriously it gives me an emotional high. Sometimes I'm too good at throwing things away when I realize I could use the item that made its way to the trash three months earlier (this rarely happens though!) I've also heard about that idea for Christmas and think it's a fantastic idea; I'm excited to hear how it turns out!

  6. I think it is much better to get rid of unwanted clothes little by little instead of a massive session of purging. This makes the goal so much more doable and far less intimidating.
