Five Thoughts

Let the projects begin!

My thoughts this week have mostly centered on lots and lots of projects.  I made quite the list when we bought our house two years ago, and we've slowly been crossing some off.  This summer, I'm hoping to finish off this list since we're still a 2:2 parent to kid ratio, and this might be our last summer before we're outnumbered.  (I'm assuming it'll be more difficult to check things off the list after Baby #3 arrives! ;)

So this summer, we're going to be painting...a lot.  The master bedroom, dining room, entryway, and hallways.  They are all a tan/peach color...a little too pink for my taste.  We're going with a gray/beige color, and then we will decorate with brighter pops of color.  I also have a few furniture projects in the works too.  Can't wait to share them with you!

We're turning our downstairs den into a playroom.  I'm so excited for the kids to have a space of their own!  It has a wall of built-ins and so much storage.  It's going to be the perfect place for them to have fun in and grow into.  I'm most excited about this project I'm going to do with an old school map of the United States that I found.  That's all I'll say for now...;)  I'll be sharing my DIY projects and ideas for the kids' space soon too!

I just love this map!

And speaking of creating a fun kids' space, we're making one for them outside too.  Last week, we bought all the lumber and are putting together a swing set for them this weekend!  I'm just a teeny bit excited, that's all...  I know they are going to love it!

Already playing on the "swing set"!

Something I really need to get working on first though is getting everything around for Josie's birthday.  I can't believe she is going to be 3 next week!  It's going to be a Doc McStuffins birthday - her favorite character.  I've made up my list of ideas.  Now, I just need to start putting everything together.  I hope this birthday gives Josie a case of Overjoyed-itis!

And lastly, I can't wait for the holiday weekend.  I love that the 4th is on a Friday so Jim will have a 3 day weekend.  I'm going to make some red, white, and blue treats; then, we'll probably have a bonfire, catch lightning bugs, and watch the fireworks.  But most of all, I'm looking forward to a lot of relaxed family time (...and working on the swing set too ;).

What are your plans for the summer and the 4th?  Hope it's an awesome one. :)

Sharing my Thoughts for Thursday with Natalie and Annie and Five on Friday along with Lauren Elizabeth this week!  Join the fun!

    1. Thank you! We are so excited to start the adoption process again!

I found the map from someone local through a facebook selling/trading group for vintage items. She had gotten them from an old school that was being torn down. Maybe you could find a local group like that online? Sorry, I can't be a better help!
